So the first Intel-based Macs are now available - in laptop and iMac form.

The quote on the Apple.com page is classic:

What's an Intel chip doing in a Mac?
A whole lot more than it's ever done in a PC.

i'm seeing articles concerning dual-booting pop up all over the internet.

i'm wondering though if we should all wait for the second generation of intel-based macs- or at least wait a bit to make sure that these are pretty stable.

Well, we're certainly not buying one any time real soon - I'm pretty happy with our "new" G4 running OS X 10.4 (and our PC is still doing pretty well, too). I definitely try to keep the trade-off balanced between new and cheap.

For anyone who is looking at buying one of these - I'm sure they'll be fine running Mac OS, but if you want to dual-boot with Windows, I'd wait until someone else has worked all the kinks out.
