Jury Duty

Was uneventful. I sat in the crowded waiting room for 5 hours, watching as other prospective jurors were called up... until almost 1pm, an officer of the court came in and dismissed the rest of us. Apparently, they got all the jurors they needed today. The benefit of the Massachusetts one-day-or-one-trial system means that even though I didn't do anything, I can't be called up for at least another 3 years.

Since I got out so early, I went over to WPI to grab some lunch and see if I could catch a few people I knew. I also realized that I was actually on campus when the bookstore was OPEN for the first time in at least 2 years! This means I could go get a WPI decal for my car (yes, I'm a geek.... and I'm stupid, I have a friend who works at the WPI bookstore who could have gotten one for me at any time.)

Ran into 2 students who go to BBC, which was kind of neat. I also went and talked to John Delorey, the vocal music professor. He told me they have an alumni mailing list, and asked for my email address so I could get notifications of upcoming events. This is great - I will now know about events in advance, instead of having a friend tell me at church, "Did you know we're having a concert today?"

nightskyre and I aren't done raking our leaves yet, and the last pick up day is Saturday. I tried to do some this afternoon, but I've tweaked my back, and if I bend over or twist wrong, I get stabbing pain in my left side. I'm not too worried, as long as it goes away in the next few days... but it does make it really hard to rake.
