(no subject)

No matter how many times I try, I get the feeling I will never really understand the Windows registry system. Probably a result of never needing to work with it until adulthood, when I've already internalized how I think computers should work, based on prior experience.

Give me a Mac OS any day... or, barring that, I'd take Linux, too.

Anything in particular I can help with?

You might want to grab a (free!) copy of Microsoft Powershell. It lets you mount the registry and treat it like a filesystem, which might make it easier to work with and visualize :)

Eh, nothing right now... Most of my problem is job-specific domain knowledge, the registry is just tangential.

That tool sounds interesting, though. I'll have to check it out.
