My life as journaled

Because I'm boring like that

I am an idiot.... an idiot who needs to go to the dentist.

I've been putting off a visit to the dentist for many years now. Why? Mostly because it's inconvenient, and I didn't know of any dentists in the Worcester area that might be "good". Well, my friend D solved the second problem last month, and I've just circumvented the first problem by waiting too long.

I just chipped a tooth. I must now go to the dentist. It's still not emergency-level urgent, because it's not actually my tooth that broke; it's a cap [edit: technically a veneer, not a cap] that I've had for roughly 15 years, ever since I broke off my two front teeth running around playing tag in a church basement.

I should have realized the cap wouldn't be permanent - it pretty much disintegrated today while eating my afternoon snack. It's probably been weak for years now - but no one would know, because I haven't been going to the dentist.

Hence, I am an idiot. No one should skip going to the dentist for years on end... but ESPECIALLY not if you have any dental work more complex than fillings.

also one of the things I have read on several web sites is that it is essential to take care of your teeth during pregnancy. You should schedule a cleaning too.

I know... that's why I'm kicking myself all the more. I KNEW it was important to see a dentist regularly during pregnancy, and I was meaning to make an appointment... but I kept putting it off because I needed to take a lot of time off from work for other things.

I suppose the upside of this is it forced me to stop putting it off.

I never had a Worcester Area dentist. Worcester is known for really poor quality dentistry and I've heard rumors of poor cleanliness. And rumors of Hep B. I'd stay out of the city if possible.

I found my dentist(in Norwood, little far for you) through word of mouth and I'm very happy with them. I have Brad going to my dentist now too. Ask around and find out where people go. You can also try 1-800 dentist.

I actually have an appointment on Thursday in Marlborough with the dentist that D recently saw and liked. I am staying far away from Worcester dentistry.
