Potential baby shower

So, people have been asking me (and nightskyre) if there's going to be a baby shower. Short answer: we don't know.
Longer answer: there's been a lack of people with the availability & resources to plan a shower. Our friends our busy with their own lives, which is as it should be. However, since there seems to be interest in going TO a shower, we drew up some very preliminary plans, and I figured I would ask the mighty Intarwebs for advice.

EDIT: Poll is now closed. If there is a shower, it will be early in September, instead. Thank you all for your feedback!

3 weeks is not too short of notice. Having the FOB throw a shower is weird for two reasons: its a female event and he's immediate family. Traditionally men don't even attend the shower and girlfriends/sisters(-in-law) throw the baby shower. You can look online for etiquette sites, they will say the same.

I wouldn't be throwing, just the initial organization.

If by initial organization you mean picking the date and cleaning the house, that's fine. You can even help with the invite list to include your coworkers and friends who may not know Anitra well.

But if you are planning party ideas/themes, buying favors and making finger sandwiches... that's all for the females.

No, I think you pretty much nailed my involvement with the first one.

Picking a date & cleaning is fine, just don't pick up the pink streamers, pink plates, pink forks and blow up the pink balloons.

Most fathers will help with finding the right day so that the mother can be surprised. The thing you want to avoid is throwing the party yourselves. Can your sister or one of the girls who was a bridesmaid in your wedding run the shower event?

Summer is hard for planning parties. Every weekend is a picnic or family event until labor day. Maybe the first weekend after labor day would be enough time for everyone?

I'd probably have a heavy hand in helping, as I am close by (ish...closer than Lori, anyways), and such. And...I'm one of the people who wants a baby shower!
