My life as journaled

Because I'm boring like that

Previous Entry Share Next Entry

I can't take it anymore.

I don't swear easily anymore (or at least I'm trying not to)... but...

Oh. My. God.

I can't take this any more. What the hell is wrong with this country? Why do people even think the pending war is right and good! How can so many condone the killing of innocents that has been happening and will continue? How can people be so blind?

I really don't want another Gulf War. But I'm certain it's going to happen. Our illustrious president will see to that - even if no one backs us up because no significant weapons have been found. Why the hell are we going after Iraq/Saddam, anyway? If we're going to war with anyone, shouldn't it be Osama? But we haven't been able to find him, so we'll just go after an easier target - one which we've been ignoring for 10 years.

I used to ignore this stuff. I didn't even let the WTC attacks phase me too much. It's always been more important for me to finish school. But I can't ignore it anymore. I just wish I knew what to do. Those who protest the war don't seem to have much effect. If Bush re-instates the draft, I'll definitely be protesting that; it's completely insane. But unless Rangel gets his way (extremely unlikely), I won't be drafted. So I won't be a draft-dodger, but I'll sure as hell help my friends to be.

I wish I knew what else I could do.

Neither would I. Of course, the reason I'm not currently in the military (ROTC) is the simple fact that I am not hetereosexual. I find it oddly comforting that I will probably be unable to serve my country militarily until such time as most of this insanity will have ended.

It's such an insane policy, did you hear about those arabic translators in the FBI who were fired simply because they are gay, in a time when arabic translators are so badly needed? Sickening! I really hope this insanity is over soon.
